The Unkartur Creativity Fiesta event held by the Food Technology and English Language Education Study Program at Karangturi National University (Unkartur) Semarang was a great event and was successfully attended with enthusiasm by the participants.
The Unkartur Creativity Fiesta activity with the theme: "Local Food Innovation" took place at the Unkartur Indoor Hall, Campus, Jalan Raden Patah, Semarang, Central Java, Saturday (17/02/24).
Unkartur Chancellor Dra. Lusiawati Dewi, M.Sc. said, this activity carries the title: "Local Food Innovation" because local food is food that is produced within close proximity to the place of consumption, often accompanied by a social structure and supply chain that is different from the large-scale supermarket system.
“Indonesia is very rich in natural resources, where each region has its own unique food characteristics. "Utilizing local natural resources with a touch of technology will produce diverse and healthy types of food, rich in nutrition," said Lusi.
Furthermore, he said, the local food movement aims to connect food producers and consumers in the same geographic area, to develop a more independent and resilient food network; the main goal is to improve the local economy; or affect health, the environment, community, or society in a particular place.
According to Lusi, the motivation for consuming local food includes healthier food, environmental benefits, and economic or community benefits and is more sustainable in its procurement.
To support the campaign for the use and innovation of local food for contemporary culinary preparations, the Unkartur Food Technology Study Program is holding a competition for high school/vocational school level regarding innovation in local food processing, which is packaged in the Unkartur Creativity Fiesta event. The Local Food Innovation Competition was attended by high school/vocational school students in the city of Semarang and surrounding areas.In the Food Innovation competition with the jury Harjanto Halim MSc., Pricillia Fenny Wijanarko alias Cik Min and Lusiawati Dewi MSc emerged as First Place Winner. Tritunggal Christian High School (Jonathan Mercelliano Kristanto, Miguel Yoshino Sienclair, Ferdinand Shilo Ong) with the product Yam I-Bar , Second place. PL Don Bosko High School (Benedikta Gita, Hariani, Ananda Rolandtino, Gabriel Sawung Sanjaya, Maria Alexandrite Sevina, Pradita Putri), with the product Brownies Krsipi Kriziz and third place won by SMKN 6, Semarang (Shafita Yiha Radya Rachma, Shamsheer Fath Sangkara Hantona, Delta Refitria, Balgis Sabihisma Al Arsyi), Klepon Cookies Products. For Best Poster. Kebon Dalem High School (Liem Gabriella Virginia, Ie Lavallerensia P.B) with Nuella products, Best Display Product. Theresiana Industrial Chemistry Vocational School (Bayu Kusuma, Gisela Hanny Noviona, Yohana Putri Ardanta) with Batatas Chanos Satay products.
The Unkartur Creativity Fiesta for the English field was organized by the English Education study program by holding an English speech and Karaoke competition. Speech Competition in English/speech with Allvian Ika Fiki Susanto, M.Pd. and Aziza Restu Febrianto, S.Pd., M.A. succeeded in selecting the winner of First Place. Indira Sheina Purnawan (Sedes Sapientiae High School, Semarang), Second Place. Agatha Floreina (Bruderan High School, Purwokerto) and 3rd Place. Liliyan Bisty Widyandini (SMA N 1, Boja).
