Sobokartti Studio Holds 2024 Dance Student Competency Test

The Semarang Sobokartti Association is holding a 2024 Dance Student Competency Test event. The Competency Test event which carries the title: "Rum Kuncaraning Bangsa Dumunung Haneng Luhuring Budaya," is being held at the Sobokartti Building, Jalan Dr. Cipto No.31 - 33 Semarang, for two days, Saturday - Sunday, (29 – 30 /06/2024).
General Chair of the Sobokartti Association, Djamil Sutrisno, said that this competency test activity requires students to always practice actively so that they are skilled and flexible in performing dances.
In turn, what is obtained from Sobokartti can be applied and donated to the community so that Javanese arts and culture, especially dance, can remain sustainable. "This vision with Kunsveereneging Sobokartti which was founded in 1920, which aims to increase people"s appreciation of the arts and culture of their own nation," stressed Sutrisno.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Sub-Coordinator for History and Cultural Heritage of the Semarang City Culture and Tourism Service (Disbudpar), Haryadi Dwi-Prasetyo, M.Sn, MM, representing the Head of the Budpar Department, said that he really appreciated the work that Sanggar Sobokartti had done so far in exploring Javanese traditional arts. The Sobokartti Association, which was founded in 1920, is not only a place to explore Javanese art, but is also a "candradimuka" place to educate young people to love and learn Javanese culture.
In this place, Sobokartti, which is a historic building and has Javanese architectural value, is used as a place to forge children"s talents and interest in arts and cultural activities, absorbing various teaching materials, including; dance, karawitan, puppetry and pamedhar sabda, as well as dance and wayang performances which are held regularly.
In particular, the Sobokartti dance studio itself instills the basic principles of tradition in dance students before being introduced to creative material and so on according to their age category."We hope that in the future Sobokartti will continue to grow and become a Candradimuka crater to develop children"s talents in the arts as well as becoming a stronghold for preserving Javanese culture ," he said.
Chief Executive of the 2024 Dance Competency Test, Dharmadi, in his report said that the 2024 dance competency test was attended by 159 students (Adolescent and Adult classes) and (Class A-1, A-2 & Class B) with 12 dances.
Meanwhile, the Examining Team consisted of Haryadi Dwi-Prasetyo, M.Sn, MM (Disbudpar Semarang City), Endik Guntaris S, Pd, M.Pd (Semarang State University) and Kanti Subiarti (Sobokartti Dance Alumnus 1990).
Furthermore, Darmadi, who is also the Head of the Sobokartti Dance Division, revealed that there were 19 dances being tested. With aspects of assessing wiraga, wirama and wirasa. This competency test carries a theme. "Rum Kuncaraning Bangsa Dumunung Haneng Luhuring Budaya", which means, Sobokartti helps preserve art and culture for the sake of the nation"s fame. "The hope is that the younger generation will love the arts and culture of their own country more, amidst the onslaught of foreign culture in this era of globalization," stressed Darmadi.
Meanwhile, one of the examiners, Haryadi Dwi Prasetya S. Sn, said that in general the students were able to understand and perform dances according to wirama, wiraga and wirasa.
“But to appear as a good dancer, of course you have to keep practicing. Don"t be complacent about successfully performing the dance beautifully. "Everything requires a process, the next stage to become a professional dancer is to master aspects of the Asto Suwondo dance," he said.
Endik Guntaris added that all the performers managed to dance well. The performers now appear like professional dancers. There is no longer any feeling of awkwardness on stage. "Everyone performs optimally, but the process must continue to become a professional dancer," said Endik Guntaris .
