"The Indonesian Watercolor Painting Community has an annual Art Camp and National Exhibition agenda which rotates every year," he explained.
Furthermore, it was revealed that Kolcai, which was born on July 20 2012, continues to grow and develop so that now there are 28 chapters throughout Indonesia.
Fine Arts observer cum academic Muhammad Rahman Athian in his introduction said, the V Kolcai national exhibition is clear proof that fine art, in particular, aquarelle, is able to go beyond conventional boundaries and offer new perspectives in understanding the world around us. According to Athian, the title "Unlocked and Limitless" reflects the community"s desire to show diversity and freedom from an aquarel perspective.
""Unlocked & Limitless" is not only an exhibition, but also a celebration of freedom, creativity and the power of art to reflect and interpret reality," he said.He added that the parallel metaphors intertwined in the works in this exhibition reflect the spirit of Kolcai as a community that celebrates diversity and creative freedom. The artists, without coercion or limitations, explored the medium of aquarelle to record traces of their creative process. “Their skill in capturing moments and freezing them on paper allows the viewer to feel the dynamics and energy contained in each work.
Meanwhile, Samuel Wattimena, member of the DPR RI Commission VII, really appreciated the V Kolcai national exhibition held by Kolcai Semarang. According to Samuel Wattimena, who is known as a top designer, it is not appropriate to compare the level of watercolor painting with other media such as; acrylic and oil paint. Samuel likened it to designs made from silk, linen and cotton. So each according to its level. “The specialty of watercolor painting, in my opinion, is a pile of colors in a transparent painting. "This is something that paintings with other media don"t have," concluded the member of the DPR RI representing Central Java before officially opening the exhibition and work tour.
