Berita Warga
The Lampung Art Camp 2024 event initiated by the Lampung Arts Council (DKL) took place at Wira Garden Resort, Bandar Lampung from September 23 to 24, 2024.
In that important moment, the Director General of Culture of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology, Hilmar Farid, B.A., M.A., Ph.D., although he could not attend, was on a visit to the Netherlands. But because of his attention, Hilmar delivered a Cultural Speech through his video testimony (VT).
The Director General in his message to Lampung Art Camp 2024 participants, cultural activists and journalists conveyed the importance of this moment held by the Lampung Arts Council.
He said that in this meaningful meeting we gather to celebrate something more than just art, we gather to celebrate the land of pepper, a symbol of Lampung"s natural wealth which for centuries has been rooted in our society and culture.
"Culture is the pulse of society and art is the investment of the soul that lives in the culture, as stated in law number 5 of 2017 concerning the progress of culture, we have the responsibility to not only preserve but also advance Indonesian culture in the midst of world civilization," he reminded.
Our task here, he continued, is more than just to enjoy the artwork but to contribute our part in maintaining and advancing this cultural heritage so that it continues to live, develop and adapt to the changing times.
Hilmar emphasized that Lampung Art Camp 2024 is a forum that provides a space for all of us, of course, community artists and cultural activists to get to know each other, understand and celebrate the diversity of arts and culture in Lampung. We know that it cannot be separated from the values of tradition and local wisdom, in the context of Lampung, art is not only a creative expression but also an important means to maintain identity and strengthen a sense of togetherness.
"Therefore, this meeting has a deep meaning because through the Dialogue, Collaboration, and Performance that we are doing here we are building a bridge that unites the Past, Present, and Future, We cannot close our eyes to the challenges faced by our local culture in the midst of globalization, the rapid flow of information, pop culture that comes from various parts of the world, It often makes us forget about our own culture."
He further explained that the role of all of us as guardians of this heritage is to ensure that the noble value of Lampung culture is maintained and inherited to future generations. "In Lampung, we not only have Music, Dance, Theater, Literature and Tradition but also have extraordinary cultural attractions that can support the cultural tourism sector," added Hilmar.
Lampung Art Camp is one of the real efforts to foster and advance the art and cultural ecosystem and to raise the potential of Lampung in the eyes of the world. With various activities, we not only learn about each other"s cultures but also expand our solidarity as a cultural community that cares about Lampung"s heritage and future.
The artworks we produce, said Hilmar, must be able to carry a message about how important it is to maintain diversity, strengthen cultural identity and preserve the richness of local traditions. Hilmar hopes that this meeting will not only be a place for various creativity but also the first step to build a healthy and sustainable arts ecosystem to realize Lampung as a province with character, honor, and dignity in a cultural framework that is always maintained.
