The selection process for the Chairman of the National Sports Committee (KONI) in South Sumatra (Sumsel) has entered a crucial phase with two primary candidates, Muhammad Asrul Indrawan and Yulian Gunhar. Both candidates submitted registration forms along with a substantial Rp 500 million in cash to signify their commitment. Asrul, Chairman of Wushu Sumsel, and Yulian, Chairman of Percasi Sumsel, are gearing up for a competitive journey involving the support of 30 percent of sports branches and KONI in 17 regencies/cities in Sumsel.
The arrival of both figures at the KONI office, each with their distinctive style, has added intensity to the competition. Asrul claims 45 percent support, while Yulian is confident in securing 51 votes. Controversy arises regarding the support from the 11 KONI regencies/cities, with both candidates asserting equal backing.
"As per the nomination agreement, serious intent must be accompanied by a financial contribution," stated TPP Chairman Widodo Sigit Pudjianto. Candidate data verification is scheduled for November 28, with candidate confirmation and result announcements expected later in the evening.
Asrul aims for victory with 71 percent of the votes, while Yulian believes he will triumph by acclamation with support from 40 sports branches and 11 KONI. Attention is focused on the verification of support from the 11 KONI regencies/cities.
Asrul"s campaign team, represented by Mualimin Pardi Dahlan, asserts that Asrul currently enjoys 71 percent support from eligible voters, including backing from sports branch provincial offices and KONI regencies/cities in Sumsel.
