HWN 2024, Sobokartti Holds Puppet Performance Featuring Puppeteer Siwi Peni Mulyastutiningrum

The Sobokartti Semarang Cultural Arts Association commemorates National Puppet Day 2024 by sponsoring a shadow puppet show entitled: "Parta Krama".
The shadow puppet show featuring KMT female puppeteer Siwi Peni Mulyastutiningrum, S.Pd, MM was held at the "Sobokartti" Cultural and Arts Heritage Building, Jalan dr. Cipto 31-33 Semarang, Sunday, (30/11/2024).
Chairman of the Semarang RT "Sobokartti" Arts and Culture Association. Soetrisno Budoyodipuro, in his speech, said that the Sobokartti association holds a puppet show every November every year. This wayang performance commemorates National Wayang Day (HWN), which falls on November 7.
"This activity is to explore ancestral cultural heritage which has been recognized by UNESCO as world cultural heritage. "Puppetry is not just a spectacle that has a philosophy and noble values which it is hoped can be appreciated and increasingly loved by the public," he said.
Soetrisno further added that this performance was also an effort to increase public awareness of their love of wayang culture.
"The hope is that they will not only be moved to play around, but also enjoy it and help develop it by taking part in and supporting the performance so that wayang remains sustainable," said Mbah Tris, a close friend of the Chairman of Sobokartti.Meanwhile, RT Script and musical accompaniment designer Suraji Hadi Kusumo Projodipuro said, for the performance featuring KMT female puppeteer Siwi Peni Mulyastutiningrum, S.Pd, MM, he specially prepared the legendary script "Parta Krama" with distinctive musical accompaniment. Ki Suraji added that he really salutes and appreciates the seriousness of this SMP Negeri 9 teacher in taking part in cultivating, developing and preserving wayang and directly being involved as a puppeteer. Frankly, female puppeteers in Indonesia are still very rare
"This is the third performance by puppeteer Siwi Peni Mulyatutingrum, who works as a teacher at SMP Negeri 9 Semarang. I composed the play Parta Krama and the musical accompaniment according to the characters so that the performance could be fun. "Moreover, this story is about marriage customs," he explained.
According to Ki Suraji, for wayang lovers, the play "Parta Krama" is an interesting play, because it tells the story of the power of Wara Sembadra"s love for Arjuno. Their journey of love had to go through the vile intrigues of Burisrawa, which gave rise to strife, and the most devastating battle in Heaven. "Parta Krama" is the story of Arjuna"s love and death for Sembadra.
Before the performance, it was sponsored by the Chairman of the Semarang City National Cultural Institute, Dr. Agung Sudarmanto, MM, to KMT Puppeteer Siwi Peni Mulyastutiningrum, S.Pd, MM witnessed by RT Soetrisno Budoyo Dipuro as well as several administrators of the "Sobokartti" Arts and Culture Association, RT Suraji Hadi Kusumo Projodipuro and RT Slamet Riyanto WD.
