The Dutch Embassy holds a ceremony to commemorate the end of the world war. The Dutch Embassy holds a ceremony to commemorate the end of the second world war in Asia at Ereveld Kalibanteng, Semarang, Thursday (15/08/2024). Similar commemorative activities also took place at Ereveld Candi (Semarang) in the form of a small ceremony for laying wreaths, Ereveld Kembang Kuning (Surabaya) and Ereveld Menteng Pulo in Jakarta.
The commemoration ceremony at Ereveld Kalibanteng, Semarang was attended by the Dutch Embassy"s Defense Attaché Colonel Norbert Moerkens, Head of the Dutch War Cemetery Foundation. Eveline C. de Vink Head of Everelad Kalibanteng Eko Boedi Listiyanto, Head of Ereveld Candi Vincen Budi Santoso, Colonel Hartopo Tri Utomo S.E (Pusdik Penerbad), Head of Museum Ranggawarsita Sugiharto, Representatives of Semarang City Government, and other invited guests.
Dutch Embassy Defense Attaché Colonel Norbert Moerkens, said that it was very important to remember what had been experienced, such as the pain of many people and the suffering of many families during the war. For this reason, it is important to pay respects in all Erevelds, including Ereveld Kalibanteng and other Erevelds
"But we also have to look to the future. We may find it difficult to forgive each other, but we can make peace," stressed Norbert Moerkens.
Head of the Dutch Funeral Foundation Eveline C. de Vink invites us to remember history and continue to make efforts to achieve a better future.
"Let"s also remember that peace does not come by itself, but needs to be fought for together," reminded Eveline.
Evelin added that Ereveld Kalibanteng is a burial place for war victims which is managed by the Dutch War Cemetery Foundation, like there are six other Erevelds in Indonesia, namely Ereveld Menteng Pulo Jakarta, Ereveld Kembang Kuning Surabaya, Ereveld Leuwigajah Cimahi, Ereveld Ancol and Candi in Semarang, and Ereveld Pandu Bandung.
The ceremony, which was held in front of the Vrouwen Monument plaza, apart from being filled with speeches, included a ceremony with speeches that also included reading poetry,monologue and singing presented by International Relations students at Diponegoro University. The event ended with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Vrouwen Monument followed by friendly gatherings. Ceremony participants were given a rose for the pilgrimage. Diponegoro University.
